I tried to post it in the tutorials forum but it says I do not have permission to start a topic there. Mods move this if you like...
For those that remember I said I would make a tuturial on how to install a tranny cooler (Hayden 404) if enough people wanted it. You did, so I did. I know it took a while but I have been very busy. Anyway here it is and I hope you like it.

I went ahead and repeated what's on your site in case it goes down so we still have this great info
=========================================================================
Note: These pics are taken 2 weeks after install so in case you dont know the cooler is already installed. I am just pointing out what we did. The transmission cooler is the thing mounted on the front of the radiator with the black strap things.
MOUNTING: THERE IS NOT MUCH HERE ON THE MOUNTING USE COMMON SENSE THAT IS THE EASIEST PART OF THE INSTALL. TRY TO MOUNT IN FRONT OF RADIATOR AS I DID.
You will need to have a decent tool set and a couple of free hours.
Some things we took off for easier access:
1. That cover thing by the grille I dont know what it is called.
2. The grille.
3. Air Intake.
4. Drivers side headlight.
NOTE: ALL CAPTIONS REFER TO IMAGES UNDER THEM NOT ABOVE
Some screws/clips to take off shown by red dots.

Here is the original hose carrying the hot tranny fluid (1). KEEP IT ON THERE THE INSTALL TIME WOULD DOUBLE FOR ME IF I HAD TO DISCONNECT THIS HOSE. Check your car and you will see how hard it would be to remove this without going under the car and removing many more parts. I found it saved a lot of time to connect this hose straight to the tranny cooler without replacing it with the include hose. Find where this hose leads to (it is number 2 in the last picture). Disconnect it and connect it to the top of the tranny cooler. (some tranny fluid may flow out)

Use the included hose to connect from bottom half of tranny cooler to number two (where number 1 originally led). Make sure to cut to length.

Put everything back together and run the engine for 20 seconds and the feel both lines coming out of the cooler. If they are warm you are golden. Check for leaks for the next few days and tighten as need.
Well I hope this works out for you and you extend the life of your transmission. Make sure to get it flushed and filled about every 18 months. If this saved you from paying over 200 dollars to get it installed then feel free to send a couple bucks paypal to CjMoney@wideopenwest.com.

Hi, new to the forum, can anyone show where the transmission lines come from and go to on the v6 model? I'm trying to install one on my 2001 v6 but I cannot figure it out, I see one line coming off the trans but it just goes into the engine coolant line?? I'm not sure whats going on with that.
Basically I'm trying to flush the trans fluid and install a cooler.

Even though thats for not using the built in one, it has a good description of the hoses in the 4th-5th paragraph. Hopefully that helps!

Tranmission Cooler Install
Full Stock Cooler Bypass
The Hayden 404 kit should come with everything you need to mount it exactly like my pictures above. I removed the bumper cover for clarity and easier install. My cooler is mounted for 100% effiecency. The cooler can be mounted between the radiator and condensor for only 75% effiecency. I suggest the 100% "intercooler style" mounting
The Hayden kit should include about 6ft of trans hose, 4 zip tie mounting straps, four pads for the straps, 4 clamps, and other miscelanious crap you won't use.
The stock transmission cooler is integrated into the radiator. I totally bypassed the stock cooler. Plugs are not needed for the transcooler hoses since the cooler is uses separate lines inside the radiator.
There are two hoses on the transmission, one on the top by the shift cable position sensor and the one on the bottom by the fluid pump. The bottom line(pump) goes to the bottom line on the cooler. The top line(shift cable) goes to the top line on the cooler. You will need to run new hose since the stock hose will not reach all of the way to the new cooler. Use your new clamps, they are so much nicer than the old clamps
The cooler mounts using those zip tie straps. If you feel the need, you can put the little pads between the cooler and the condensor. If you don't use the pads, so be it. Nothing gained, or lost. The ties straps go through the cooler and the condensor(between the fins) and you tighten the caps on the ties straps till the assembly won't move.
