Other 626 ref. This site needs a library in perhaps the "DIY/How to" section where info and resources such as workshop manuals, wiring diagrams etc can be placed when kind members offer them up to the population!! A forum search does not always reveal these gems and the old links in the posts may not be active when newbies join.
For example if someone has workshop manuals; download the documents, via the link they provide, to the site resource library and then place a list of the links to the library in the "DIY/How to section". Documents and links will only be lost if this site shuts down and documents can be verified before new link is made. Then any member can download the document via the link in the "DIY/How to section" instead of PM (hassle for sender)or rapidshare(A lot of files are incorrectly titled, fixya sucks in this regard).

I apologise for my lack of navigation skills if there is such a library already in existence. If this is the case it should be made easier to find as I have looked and searched the forums.
I suppose a post of a compilation of links to rapidshare, PDFTown etc would suffice in the meantime. Has someone already done it?

Can the site cope with workshop manual documents as a new topic large post?

Cheers

I agree it would be nice, but the only legal way I think you could do this is to ask permission from Mazda to host those resources or link to those resources.

What if a member posted a single link to a created document or folder, the contents of which the site had no knowledge or affiliation? Content compiled links. Would this be legally ok?

The information is freely available out there somewhere. It just needs to be verified and sorted, a mission in itself. There's a lot of incorrectly titled crap out there.
Some organised person has already started doing it, surely? I like the idea of easy to find information.

Although we wouldn't be hosting it, we would still be helping distribute a copy written manual. I'm not sure about the legality.

Either way, I've sent an email to MazdaUSA. You can actually request Workshop Manuals for your car straight from them. So far, I have only requested it and have not received anything.

If I get something back, I'd still like to send something to them asking permission to use it on our site/wiki as I think it would be a great addition.

I don't think we can request a workshop manual from MazdaUSA that easily, if we buy a Haynes or Chilton Repair Manual, isn't that much easier for us to get the job done?

By the way, I usually go physical library to look for the repair manual I need. For I live in Oakland, CA, I go Berkeley Central Lib. And only I can find is Chilton's Mazda 323/MX-3/626/Millenia/Protege 1990-98 repair manual. If there's any library contains Haynes or Chilton manual for your 6, that's great! If there aren't any, we may still help.Posted Image

Sounds like a great idea! Good luck. Fingers crossed.

It seems MazdaUSA only have a selection of years 2001-2010 under Manuals and References available.

Our librarys have a limited selection of manuals. It seems I never have the right car.

I just thought it would be easier to have one place here where you could compile all the manuals that people normally ask for. Oh well. Its all good.

I have a small book collection of Chilton and Haynes manuals from previous cars. When you change cars you need another manual.

The Haynes or Chilton Repair Manual is okay, but most of it is just generalized information. The Workshop Manual or Factory Service Manual (FSM) will show you how to take everything off of your car, rebuild it, diagnose it, everything. I got mine from eBay.

I went to this link.
Then I selected "Mazda Literature & Publications" and "Workshop Manual".

On the next page, the year goes all the way down to 1971. I still haven't received anything, but I have hope I'll get some response.

Well, I got a reply and it's what I figured.

Thank you for contacting Mazda.

The Workshop Manual you are looking for can be purchased from the Parts Department of your local, authorized Mazda dealership. At this time, Mazda does not sell any parts, including publications, directly from the factory. Please understand due to space limitations, we cannot stock an extra supply of Workshop Manuals in our office.

You can also obtain this through www.mazdatechinfo.com.

You may locate the authorized Mazda dealership that is closest to you by visiting our website at www.mazdausa.com/MusaWeb/loadDealerSearch.action.

Thank you again for contacting Mazda.

So, since they are still actively selling those manuals, I doubt they'd want someone to post it online for free.

Ummm.... well I have one of those. We bought it for $10 online and it came as a CD. It didn't print off right, so we got our money back which is good, because you can download the same thing online for free. Its a 662 page PDF file.

Here are two places to get it, at least this is what I have. Its for the 98-00 626.
