Looking good. I'm so happy I did the sway bar. I have had ZERO problems with my suspension. And I virtually paid nothing for it.

Another experiment I was about to involved the front control arms. I noticed RX7 (second gen) comes from the factory with aluminum control arms that was shaped almost similar to ours. About 2 rows away sat a 2.0 626 with the control arm dangling off. I got excited and pulled it off and ran to the rx7 to see how close it was. Well, turns out it's not very close. It would pull the back of the wheel towards the fender well. Well, I'm still searching for things that will help us out. I'll definately let ya'll know something if I find something else.

Thanks for your devotion, blackshine007. You're like the Einstein of 626's, and wow, does your town have the best j-yards! You're from ATL right? I've been there for a week for an electric vehicle conference in 2000. We took home the Gold in endurance. Plus, we saw Debo (Tiny Lister) from Friday, in the mall, for real! I love that city!

btw I've heard that you may need to lube the bushings. Since I'll be using the oem bushings that come on the bar, any ideas?

I didn't lube mine, and I got new ones from the dealer. I don't have any problems so far.

You are supposed to grease them....

I Just got mine today! I got a clean one from a Contour GL, so it's 17mm. FYI, the rear endlinks and bushing cuffs are totally incompatable. I did grab some end links off the front of the same car. They're the right type, a little too long, but since I'm going to cut, flip and weld anyway, I'll just hacksaw them to the right length. I'll try to get some pics once I get started. And thanks for the tip snailman. I have a tub of general purpose Ford moly grease, the kind you put in CV axles, I'll use a dab of that.

If you're car didn't come with a swaybar, I'd try to find some swaybar mounting brackets off the rear of a 626 or even an MX-6. That's what I got mine off of. And I'd definitely use my bolt and washer idea for the bottom bracket bolts.

I did cut the length on my Contour front endlinks, but with these, I don't have to flip, but I did put a few hardened washers at the top. I left them with my pops today, so whenever he gets around to it, he'll weld 'em. Still no mounting brackets, but I'm looking. I got some #8 hardened bolts for the brackets. The stock ones are #6, and not hardened. I think there's a couple of Probe Se's in a junkyard nearby, so I'll get up there soon to take a look.

I got it all installed with my custom endlinks and some custom bushing mounts, but still...

What about the bushing stops?

The Contour swaybar has bushing stops, but on the 626, they fall about 1 1/2 inches short of the bushing on both sides. These stops keep the swaybar from getting slid back and forth. This back and forth motion will cancel some of the swaybar's effectiveness and shorten the bushing life.

I fixed this by sawwing open one side of some metal electrical conduit that I cut to length, spread it open, placed it on the bar, crimped it back to shape, and held it tight with 2 steel hose clamps. The end facing the bushing is slightly rounded and smoothed so not to cut the bushing.

This is a killer project, a pain in the ***, but definately worth it!

I'm going to zombie this thread up a little, but I'm going for it.

My local Ford Dealership also said theirs only 17mm and 18mm rear swaybars, they didnt see any 19mm on their inventory list.

They want $64.00 for it (and 10.00 per bushing), So I decided to grab the 18mm contour rear sway bar from them and order some of the energy suspension bushings for the waybar online (came to like 17 bucks). Lastly I grabbed some beefy looking RX7 S5 2nd gen rear endlinks, that put all of yours to shame :P. (hopefully they work!) My picture may be wrong though, it could be a pic of the front sway end links. Well find out soon enough!

Endlinks w/ Hardware = 30 shipped
Bushings = 17 shipped
18mm Contour swaybar = 64.00 Pick up

Total 111. Not bad at all :D

Where did you find those endlinks at? Just in case I decide to get some more.

The endlinks from the SVT won't work. They're too long. You can go to the dealer and buy the rx7 endlinks or you can go to one of the rx7 sites and buy the aftermarket links. But don't get the SVT links. In fact, if I remember, they don't mount up to ours unless you do some drilling. The gen 2 RX7 links are the best solution.

EDIT: the links in your pic is the front. The rears look totally different.

Well hopefully they send me rear links as described, not the ones I showed in the picture.

The rears should look like the dogbone links you had right?
