The Countours had a minimum of a 17mm swaybar. That price was for the 19mm. I'll be going to Pull-a-Part next Friday, and I'm not getting anything less than an 18mm. I think that the endlinks that I wound up buying is more than the swaybar ($66.80 plus shipping per pair), but they're adjustable. Here's a link:

Hopefully I'll find the swaybar I want at Pull-a-Part (hey, gotta save some money somewhere). Ok, so I splurged on the RX-7 endlinks, but my chances of finding a 2nd gen. RX-7 around here are slim to nil. But if I can't get the swaybar I want, I'll at least get all the parts that I need to bolt it on. Then I'll go to the local Ford Dealer to get the bar.

Well, I went to the local Ford dealer today and ordered a Countour swaybar (18mm, they told me that the 19mm is on the front) and two new bushings. Paid $70.66 for all of it ($48.06 for the bar, and $9.30 for the bushings. I know, they raped me on the bushings). They'll be here early next week. I can't wait!! I'm still going to Pull-A-Part this Friday so that I can get the brackets and bolts that I'll need to put it on with. I'll be putting my springs (AG 1.8" drop), struts (KYB GR-2's), Swaybar and front and rear strut tower bars on as soon as I get what I need for the swaybar install (the adjustable end links are on the way). I'll be posting pics a thread in the photo section or the 1993-1997 section as soon as I'm done putting all of it on.

Gee, am I the only one that has any interest in this thread now? Anyway, I just got back home from Pull-A-Part. Got the mounting brackets and bolts that I didn't have (my car didn't come with a swaybar). The endlinks came in yesterday, and the new swaybar and bushings will be here Monday. I'll get started on everything next week, and I'll be posting pics like I said that I would.

I'm about to go get a sway bar out of a j-yard. do I need to cut the end links, or can I just use my ratchets and wrenches?

You'll need a wrench and an allen wrench, I don't know what sizes. But you'll need some end links from an RX-7. I'm working on mine, so I'll be posting pics of it soon.

So what does the allen wrench go to? As far as the end links, I think I will cave in and get the RX-7 endlinks. I was going to hacksaw the end link and get my pops to weld it with one end twisted 180 degrees. Yeah, I've got a '97 I-4 and they didn't even bother putting a rear sway bar on this one, so I've got nothing to look at under there. I usually learn how TO do stuff by UN-doing it, no luck in this case.

I do have a Hayes, and I've seen pics up here, so I got a good mental image of where the bushings are, and I know about the one-sided ball jointed end links, and that the svt is about 1-2 inches wider, hence the RX-7 links. I think the bushing are bolt on, and the endlinks have a nut on one side. When I turn that nut, will the ball just keep rotating in the joint ?

I usually go to the scrap yard and forget the one tool I can't pull the part without, I wouldn't have taken an allen wrench, so you definately helped me there! I'll post pics too. I've gotta try to go to the yard tommorrow, the guy I go to only opens up on Saturday, for a few hours in the morning, he's a retiree. But his prices more than make up for his crazy businness hours. I'm going to try to get the sway bar for $15. He sold my brother a radiator and fan for $10.

These are the endlinks that I'm using. They were a little pricey, but they'll be worth it since I can adjust them.

I'll have some pics up soon, so be watching for them.

Ok, I got the swaybar on today (I'll be posting pics soon, be patient). A recommendation to those of you living up North, or who's car didn't come with a rear swaybar. Either chase the threads where the bolts go on with a tap, or get some 8mm bolts (30mm long), the washers and nuts to go on them (I got the nuts with the nylon in them). Trust me, you'll thank me for this later.

Ok, got everything done. Here's the pics of the swaybar I put on;

And the nuts and bolts that I used in place of the factory bolt (one of which I broke and had to drill out),

Ok, I figured out the allen wrench goes into the tip of the bolt. On the front endlinks of my car, the allen wrench is 5mm, and the nut is 14mm, so the back should follow suit. With a little energon and a lot of luck, I'll be gettin' the parts tommorrow. Test pipe just got here a little while ago, so I gotta go!

btw I've heard that you may need to lube the bushings. Since I'll be using the oem bushings that come on the bar, any ideas?
